Bank of America Roval 400 Predictions
OPTION 1: Chase Elliott (+550)
Although he’s not part of the 2023 postseason, Chase Elliott will still be a factor this weekend. Elliott is a 7-timeroad course winner in the Cup Series, 3rd-most in series history behind Jeff Gordon (nine) and Tony Stewart (eight). It is worth noting that after winning seven times in 11 road course starts over 2018-21, Elliott is winless in his last 13 road course starts. Still, his 8.8 average finish and eight top-five finishes – three runner-up finishes – are impressive.
With a win today, Elliott would join Brad Keselowski at Kentucky (2011-16) as the only drivers to win 3 of the first 6races at a track since 1980. The only active track on the schedule that has had a single driver win 3 of the first 6Cup races at the track is Dover, where Richard Petty won 3 of the first 6 from 1969-72.
OPTION 2: Kyle Larson (+1700)
After starting deep in the field, Larson finished second in the Bass Pro Shops Night Race back on September 16. He was methodical in his move forward, breaking into the top-10 by the conclusion of stage 1, then into the top 5 by the conclusion of stage 2. Thus, he shouldn’t be shaken by the fact that he’ll start to the back of the pack today in Charlotte, following his crash at practice. The pressure is somewhat off, but his odds offer major value.
OPTION 3: Chris Buescher (+3200)
Buescher won his first NASCAR Cup Series race as a rookie in 2016, then went five seasons without capturing another victory. He also missed the playoffs last season, but finished with three top-five finishes and 10 top-10s that season, which were both new career highs. This season, Buescher has three wins, eight top-5 finishes and 14 top-10s. He’s also finished 11th or better in all five road races run in the NASCAR Cup Series this season and has been top-10 in his last two starts at the Charlotte Motor speedway Road Course.
