The Field Pays 20/1
In one of the best upsets in recent NASCAR Sprint Cup history, Brad Keselowski won the Aaron’s 499 on Sunday and scored a 20/1 pay out for bettors who wagered on The Field.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog made The Field 20/1 entering NASCAR’s race, which means it paid $2,000 for every $100 wagered. Keselowski’s feat was rather amazing considering it is incredibly rare that a Field driver wins the race.
Perhaps even more amazing is the fact that Keselowski led for just one lap at the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday. Kyle Busch, who was a 5/1 favorite to win the Aaron’s 499, led for 42 laps but finished 25th. Dale Earnhardt Jr. placed second, Ryan Newman finished 3rd, Marcos Ambros finished 4th and Scott Speed wrapped up the top 5.
Entering the Aaron’s 499, Jeff Gordon was a small 8/1 long shot to win, while Jimmie Johnson was 9/1 and Denny Hamlin was 10/1.
NASCAR will continue with its action next Sunday, May 2 at Richmond International Raceway for the Russ Friedman 400, presented by Crown Royal. The race will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET on FOX and will be broadcasted on the radio by MRN with coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. ET.
