Carl Edwards vs. Kyle Busch Odds
AVONDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – Two of the drivers near the front of Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 are Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch. Which of the two drivers will finish closer to the front?
According to oddsmakers at online sports book Sportsbook.com the pole sitter, Edwards, is favored to win this head-to-head pairing as he has odds of -130 to finish ahead of Busch, who comes in with odds of +100.
Edwards won qualifying on Saturday and will start in the pole position. He is also the current points leader for the series. Edwards has one win and 5 top 5’s in his career at Phoenix. His average finish is 11.8 and his driver rating is 101.7, which is second best of any current driver.
Kyle Busch will start from the fourth position. He holds one win and just one top 5 in his career at Phoenix. His average finish on the track is 13.8 and his driver rating is 96.3, which ranks seventh amongst drivers in the series.
On paper this matchup appears to favor Edwards and that is where I would put my money. He has performed well at Phoenix, and while that has only amounted into one win, all you need is for him to finish ahead of Busch, not take the checker flag. Busch has cracked the top five just one time at Phoenix and we feel that odds are likely Edwards will be in contention, and Busch will not.
