Hamlin wins the STP 500
RIDGEWAY, VA (TheSpread) – Brad Keselowski nearly won back-to-back NASCAR races on Sunday, but Denny Hamlin managed to hold him off to pick up the victory in the STP 500.
Hamlin was one of three driver to really perform well throughout the race, as he led 91 laps, third only to Joey Logano (108) and Kevin Harvick (154). The race was somewhat chaotic, but Hamlin managed to stay up front when the final flag dropped, picking up a key win to secure his spot in the Chase for the Championship.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Hamlin entered the week with 7/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $700.
Hamlin jumps up to eighth in the standings with his win on Sunday, he is now 91 points behind first place. Harvick now has a 24-point lead for first on Logano in the standings. Harvick finished eighth on Sunday, which is his worst finish of the season. Logano came in third place.
