Following a win in the Sprint Unlimited on Saturday, has Denny Hamlin improved on his odds to win the 2016 Daytona 500?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Hamlin now has 12/1 odds to win the Daytona 500. He has the fifth-shortest odds to win the race. Dale Earnhardt Jr. remains the favorite at 5/1 to win while Jimmie Johnson has 7/1 odds.

Hamlin was able to stay ahead of the field for most of Saturday’s race, leading 39 of the 79 laps. In the end he held off Joey Logano and Paul Menard to pick up the exhibition win at Daytona.

Hamlin has yet to win the Daytona 500 in his career over 10 attempts. His best finish was second in 2014. Last year he managed to finish fourth despite starting from the 42nd position. He has placed in the top 5 in three of the last four years. In his career at Daytona International Speedway, Hamlin has an average finish of 18.7 and his driver rating is 87.7.
