Logano wins pole for STP 500
RIDGEWAY, VA (TheSpread) – Joey Logano will get the start up front for the NASCAR STP 500 on Sunday after claiming the pole in Friday’s qualifying session.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Jimmie Johnson is the favorite to win this race, as he has 7/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Jeff Gordon (9/2) while Kevin Harvick now has 5/1 odds. Logano now has 7/1 odds. The STP 500 will take place from Martinsville Speedway on Sunday at 1:13PM ET.
Johnson is currently seventh in the point standings, 66 points behind Harvick for the lead. Johnson has one win and two top 5s this season. Johnson has won eight times at Martinsville and has an average finish of 6.2 and a driver rating of 122.5 at the track, which is best of any driver in the field. Johnson will start fifth on Sunday.
Gordon is 22nd in the standings, 113 points out of first. He has yet to pick up a top 5 this year. Gordon is an eight-time winner at this track with an average finish of 6.8. His driver rating is 119.8, which is second best in the field. Gordon qualified fourth for the race.
Harvick is the points leader by 28 on the field. He has two wins and five top 5s on the year. Harvick has one win at Martinsville with an average finish of 16.4 and a driver rating of 91.8 at the track, which ranks eighth in the series. Harvick will start in 17th position
