Harvick named Driver of the Year
CHARLOTTE, NC (TheSpread) – It wasn’t too surprising, but Kevin Harvick was named 2014 NASCAR Driver of the Year by a panel of broadcasters and journalists this past week.
Harvick earned himself the 2014 Sprint Cup Championship, being the first driver to win in this new Chase format. He won a total of five races on the season, which was second only to Brad Keselowski for the most on the year.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Harvick has been given 6/1 odds to win the 2015 Sprint Cup Championship. He joins Jeff Gordon with 6/1 odds while Jimmie Johnson is the favorite with 5/1 odds.
This season’s title was the first for Harvick. He had placed third in 2013, 2011 and 2010, which were his previous best finishes. Harvick made the move from Childress Racing to Stewart-Haas, and it appears to have worked. He tied his career-best with five wins during the 2014 season.
