Stewart, Busch Scrap
Tony Stewart got into Kurt Busch in the final practice section for the Bud Shootout to be held Saturday evening and then Kurt Busch got back into Stewart – literally.
Stewart ran into the back of Busch’s Miller Lite Dodge on the back stretch of the Daytona International Speedway causing Busch to end up in the outside retaining wall.
After Busch gathered control of his car he raced towards Stewart’s Home Depot Toyota and rammed it several times. This continued all the way to pit road and in the middle of other cars trying to exit the track.
Busch then proceeded to line his car up facing Stewart and it looked as if Busch was going to ram him one final time but ended up just passing Stewart on his way to the garage as Stewarts crew arrived on the scene.
Both drivers will now have to go to backup cars to race in the Bud Shootout.
Busch’s actions will no doubt warrant some type of penalty for Busch and it very well could be severe. Busch has been reprimanded and penalized by NASCAR for using his car as a weapon previously. Within minutes after exiting their race cars both Stewart and Busch had been called to the NASCAR trailer. We will report on what penalties if any are levied as soon as possible.
This will no doubt affect betting odds for Satruday’s 30th Budweiser Shootout. Prior to crashing and having to go to back up cars Tony Stewart was one of the betting line favorites to win the Bud Shootout at 6/1. He will no doubt drop significantly after having to use an untested race car. Busch will also certainly drop in his payout should he be allowed to race at all by NASCAR. Busch was listed at 7/1 going into Friday nights final practice.

If Friday nights fireworks are any indication fans can expect a very exciting race for the Bud Shootout.
