Kenseth wins Food City 500
BRISTOL, TN (TheSpread) – It was a long day for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in Bristol, but it ended with Matt Kenseth as the winner of the Food City 500.
Rain plagued the race, causing a number of lengthy delays. The race was scheduled to begin just after 1PM ET, but eventually ended around 10:30PM ET with a green-white-checkered finish. In that finish, Kenseth had the lead to start and ended up with the win, holding off Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon for the victory.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Kenseth entered the week with 8/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $800.
Kevin Harvick had another strong car, as he led 184 of the eventual 511 laps, but he got into a wreck that forced him into a 38th place finish. Harvick still has the points lead by 30 on the field while Kenseth jumps up into eighth position with his victory on Sunday. Gordon also jumped up four spots in the standings to ninth with his finish.
