2012 Samsung 500 Free Picks
FORT WORTH, TX (ATS Consultants) – The Sprint Cup Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday for the Samsung 500, the first of two Cup races there this season.
NASCAR is back after a week off for the Easter holiday as Matt Kenseth defends his 2011 title. Kenseth crossed the line 8.3 seconds ahead of Clint Boyer, after leading 169 of 334 laps. The track is one of three 1.5-mile tracks on the Sprint Cup schedule. The wear of the racing surface on each track is unique, which causes the speeds to vary somewhat.
Carl Edwards 6/1
Edwards won this race in 2008, finished third here last year and had five top-five finishes in each even at Texas in 2011. His three career wins are the most all-time in 22 events held at this site. While Edwards has yet to lead a lap this season, he finished fifth a both LVMS and Fontana.
Greg Biffle 12/1
Biffle has done well in Texas, coming in fourth last year and has five top-fives. He’s a strong qualifier, starting third or better in three or four. He’s now first in points which were highlighted by three 3rd-place finishes to start the season and he has yet to finish worst than 13th. He won this race in 2005 when he overtook Casey Mears with just 24 laps remaining.

Marcos Ambrose 80/1
Ambrose is a longtime road racer who recorded his first top-10 finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2010. He added more career-best finishes at Texas and Charlotte Motor Speedway last year. He owns five straight top-20s at Texas, finishing sixth and 11th in 2011. He has yet to score a top-10 this season but is a good sleeper here considering his improvements in 1.5-mile tracks.
