Big Machine Vodka 400 Predictions
The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series waves the green flag for the Big Machine Vodka 400 on Sunday at The Brickyard. Here’s the drivers we like to contend for the victory today.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch are co-favorites, as each is getting 5/2 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Martin Truex Jr. (7/2) and Kyle Larson (6/1). The Big Machine Vodka 400 takes place today at 2PM ET from Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana. The race will air live on the NBC Sports Network.
52013 Kyle Busch 5/2
Busch has been great at the Brickyard. He is a two-time winner of this event and has finished in the top 10 a total of 10 times in 13 races. His average finish at the track is 10.9 and his driver rating here is 106.9. Busch has six wins this year and is always in the mix to win races this year. Coming off a pair of finishes outside the top 5, I expect Busch to really be aggressive today.
52029 Jimmie Johnson 50/1
Johnson is winless this year and has long odds today, but he actually has a little bit of concern to make the postseason. He sits 15th in the standings right now, so if a wild card option wins, he only has a 21-point advantage on Alex Bowman for the final spot in the field. Johnson needs to run well today and Indy has been a good place for him. He is a four-time winner at the Brickyard and has a 103.6 driver rating there. Given the circumstances and his long odds, I think Johnson has some good value today.
52020 Ryan Newman 100/1
Sitting 18th in the standings right now and needing a miracle to advance to the playoffs on points, Newman has to win today. It is something he has done before, as he won this race in 2013. He also was third last year. This hasn’t been a great year for Newman, obviously, but with everything on the line you can expect him to go for broke today. He has been a playoff driver three of his four seasons with Childress racing, so I hold out hope that he can come through with a huge upset win today.
