Daytona 500 Disappointments
Feeling good about some of the favorites for today’s Daytona 500? Here’s three that we think you should avoid at the betting window.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kyle Busch is the favorite to win this race, as he is getting 8/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Denny Hamlin (9/1), Joey Logano (10/1) and Brad Keselowski (11/1). The 2020 Daytona 500 takes place on Sunday, Feb. 16 from Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
51203 Kyle Busch 8/1
There’s a lot to like about Kyle Busch. The favorite is an ultra-competitor that has great numbers at Daytona except for one glaring number. That is zero, as in zero Daytona 500 victories. In 14 attempts, Busch has never won and only finished in the top five in three of them. While he is a five-time winner of the Daytona summer race, you can’t trust him to get it done today. I don’t like him as the favorite and think his winless streak in this event continues today.
51206 Brad Keselowski 11/1
Keselowski being among the favorites is quite surprising. He has never won the Daytona 500 and has finished outside the top 10 the last five years, including three finishes outside the top 25. His average finish (23.2) and driver rating (78.2) at the track both rank 10th in the field or worse. Those just aren’t numbers or performances worthy of being at 11/1 at the betting window.
51207 Chase Elliott 14/1
Elliott has been great in qualifying for this race, winning the pole twice. However, he hasn’t turned that into good performances in the race. In four career Daytona 500’s, Elliott has finished outside the top 10 each time. His best finish was 14th in 2017. He doesn’t even had a great starting spot today, as he begins from the 25th position. Daytona just hasn’t been a good track for him. He has finished outside the top 20 in all four races at Daytona in the summer as well. Stay far away from Elliott today.
