The Daytona 500 has been known to provide some upsets over the years. Here’s three drivers with long odds that we think could provide a big payout today.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kyle Busch is the favorite to win this race, as he is getting 8/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Denny Hamlin (9/1), Joey Logano (10/1) and Brad Keselowski (11/1). The 2020 Daytona 500 takes place on Sunday, Feb. 16 from Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Busch is a former Daytona 500 winner, claiming the championship in 2017 as a bit of a longshot. He also has finished second three other times. Of the field, Busch ranks fourth in driver rating (87.1) at Daytona. Altogether he has three wins at this track and an average finish of 16.9. There’s a lot to like about Busch and we know he is an aggressive driver. He really has great value today at 18/1

It’s been a tough few years for one of the all-time greats in NASCAR history, but Sunday could be a chance for him to get back into the spotlight. Despite his struggles overall, Johnson still has finished in the top 10 of this race in four of the last seven years, including a ninth-place finish in 2019. JJ also placed third at Daytona in the summer race last year. A two-time Daytona 500 winner and seven-time Daytona track winner, Johnson still has some of the best numbers of anyone in the field. He’s got a start from the sixth position and could be ready to dial up a little magic this afternoon.

This is a real longshot, but I like the value Bell has in his Daytona 500 debut. The young driver starts in the 17th position and is ready to shock the racing world. He is coming off some great performances in the Xfinity and Truck Series in previous years, which includes four top-10 finishes at Daytona in six races. Sure, the competition level is different, but Bell has plenty of confidence in himself heading into his first Daytona 500. It wasn’t long ago that Trevor Bayne shocked the field to win the race in 2011. Bell could do the same today.
