Bank of America 500 Predictions
The 2017 NASCAR Monster Energy Series waves the green flag on the Bank of America 500 later today. Here’s some drivers we like to contend for the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kyle Busch is favored to win this race, as he has 7/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Martin Truex Jr. (4/1), Denny Hamlin (13/2) and Kevin Harvick (13/2). Bank of America 500 takes place on today at 2PM ET from Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
Martin Truex Jr. has been the best driver in the series throughout the year and it just seems like 2017 is his year. He has five wins in 2017 and has been atop the standings for most of the season. He starts the second stage of the playoffs in first as well and now comes to a track where he is a former winner. Truex also finished third at this track earlier this year. I like Truex to continue his strong runs and to punch his ticket to the next stage of the playoffs.
Kevin Harvick could use a little spark today, as he has just one win in 2017. While he is soundly in the playoff mix, Harvick could use a win to get a little momentum on the rest of the field. That can definitely happen at this track, where Harvick has picked up three victories in his career. He has finished in the top 10 at this track in four of his last five trips to Charlotte, including a pair of runner-up finishes. I like Harvick to be a top contender today.
Jimmie Johnson comes into today’s race with 11/1 odds. I think that is great value for Johnson, who is an 8-time winner at Charlotte in his career. Over 32 races, he has finished in the top 5 15 times at Charlotte. His average finish there is 12.7 and his driver rating is 110.4. As the defending series champion, Johnson isn’t going to go away quietly in the playoffs. I like him as a great option to win today, especially with the 11/1 odds.
