According to the latest oddsmakers, Martin Truex Jr. is favored to win today, as he has +275 odds. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (+350), Kyle Larson (+500) and Kevin Harvick (+600). The Hollywood Casino 400 takes place today at 3PM ET from Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.
Kyle Busch needs a good run today, as he is 7 points behind the cut line in ninth place in the standings. Busch was rolling before the start of the second stage, as he had won two straight. However, he has been outside the top 20 the last two weeks to put himself in danger of being cut. Kansas isn’t his best track, but Busch does have a win there. So, despite his driver rating at the track being just 87.0, I think Busch finds a way to pull out the win.
Jimmie Johnson also needs a good run today as he sits right on the cut line at eighth in the standings. Johnson is listed with +1200 odds to win. The defending series champ has the best numbers of any driver at Kansas. Johnson is a three-time winner here with an average finish of 9.6 over 22 races. He also has a 108.7 driver rating, which is tops of any driver in the field. Look for Johnson to come out swinging today.
Matt Kenseth is a dark horse to consider as he sits in 10th place in the standings, eight points away from eighth. Kenseth is also listed with +1200 to prevail today. Kenseth has not been terrible, but been outside the top 10 in his last three. He has stayed out of trouble, but now needs to get a little desperate. He has great numbers at Kansas, posting two wins with a 13.1 average finish and a 106.5 driver rating. I think Kenseth will really make a push for the victory today.
