Pocono 400 Predictions

The Pocono 400 waves the green flag this afternoon. Here is a look at the drivers we expect to contend for the win in today’s NASCAR race.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Kyle Busch is now the favorite to win with 4/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Brad Keselowski (11/2) and Martin Truex Jr. (6/1). The Pocono 400 takes place today at 3PM ET from Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.

Bet on the Pocono 400

Martin Truex Jr. doesn’t have the best numbers at Pocono, but he is a former winner at this track. His average finish at Pocono is 16.5 and his driver rating is 82.9. Despite that, Truex is the points leader for a reason and he has two wins this year as is. He is consistently finding himself near the front of the pack, no matter what track they are at. He has nine top-10 finishes this year and five top-5 finishes. Look for him to be in contention again today.

Chase Elliott is listed with 12/1 odds to win today. He only has two runs at Pocono in his career, but he has an impressive driver rating of 102.7 at the track in those two runs. Elliott was in a bit of a funk in recent weeks before finishing fifth last week at Dover. I think he builds off that today at Pocono. He already has seven top-10 finishes this year, now he just needs his first win.

People are sleeping on Denny Hamlin today. He has 20/1 odds to win, but this is one of his best tracks. Hamlin is a four-time winner at Pocono with an average finish of 12.1 over 22 races. His driver rating at the track is 105.6, which is the second-best in this field. Hamlin has been running in the mix all season as well, finishing in the top 10 in six races this year. Needing a win, Hamlin should feel like this is the time to do it. This is one of his favorite places and he can be aggressive at this track.
