Martin Wins Pole
Mark Martin has won the pole for the 2009 Price Chopper 400, which takes place on Sunday, October 4 at Kansas Speedway.
Martin took the pole position with a running of 175.758, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. too the second spot and Brad Keselowski took the third. Jamie McMurray and Tony Stewart round out the top 5.
Thanks to his pole position, oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made Martin a 4.5/1 favorite to win the Price Chopper 400, although Jimmie Johnson is also 4.5/1 to win.
Martin leads the Sprint Cup standings and has five wins on the year. Martin won this event in 2005 and has finished in the top five in his last five races.
Stewart is 7/1 to win this Sunday, while Earnhardt Jr. is 10/1, Keselowski is 50/1 and McMurray is 50/1.
Stewart won this event in 2006 and sits fifth in the points standings. Stewart has struggled as of late finishing outside the top five in his last six events. Stewart finished ninth last Sunday, which was his first top 10 since Aug. 10.
Gordon is a two-time winner of this event, finishing first in 2001 and 2002. Gordon is eighth in the standings and has finished in the top 10 in three of the last four events.
