Southern 500 Odds
Oddsmakers have made Kyle Busch the favorite to win this weekend’s 2009 Southern 500 from Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.
NASCAR odds for the return of the Southern 500 name to the spring race at Darlington have Kyle Busch opening betting at 4.5/1 odds to win. Busch, who is 3rd in Sprint Cup points and swept last weekends Cup and Nationwide races at Richmond has one win, one top 5, one top 10 and an average finish of 17.0 in 3 career starts at Darlington.
A winning 2009 Southern 500 wager on Kyle Busch would pay $450 for every $100 wagered.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have listed Jimmie Johnson as Kyle Busch’s biggest threat this weekend at 6/1 odds to win. Johnson has four top 5 finishes so far this year and six top 10 finishes for a sixth place ranking in the current standings.
Jeff Gordon (7/1) is also expected to challenge Kyle Busch at the Southern 500 according to oddsmakers. Gordon has five top 5 finishes and seven top 10 finishes coming into this weekend.
Kurt Busch (10/1) and Mark Martin (15/1) round out the rest of the top 5 for the 2009 Southern 500.
