Martin takes the pole
Qualifying is complete for Saturday’s Chevy Rock & Roll 400, with Mark Martin winning his sixth pole of the 2009 season.
Martin will be starting first, but the updated odds have Denny Hamlin as the favorite.
Hamlin is a 7/2 favorite to win the race according to oddsmakers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (9/2), Martin (5/1), Jimmie Johnson (5/1), and Jeff Gordon (8/1).

Busch will start eighth in Saturday night’s race. Busch sits 14th in the standings, 37 points behind Matt Kenseth for the final spot in NASCAR’s postseason. Busch has four wins in 2009, but has been inconsistent, finishing outside the top 10 in six of his last eight races.
Martin is 10th in the standings and not quite assured of a spot in the chase. Martin has four wins on the season and finished in the top five in his last two races.
Johnson will start fourth on Saturday and is the two-time defending champion of the race and is a three-time winner in 2009.
Gordon will start seventh on Saturday and is the 2000 winner of this event. Gordon is second in the standings and has finished in the top 10 in five of his last seven races.
