Elliott, Earnhardt to start up front at Daytona
Qualifying for the Daytona 500 took place on Sunday and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Chase Elliott find themselves set to start up front.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Earnhardt Jr. is a 5/1 favorite to win. Other short odds are Brad Keselowski (7/1) while Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. each have 10/1 odds. The pole-winner, Elliott, is listed with 14/1 odds. The Daytona 500 takes place on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2:30PM ET from Daytona International Speedway. The rest of the field outside of Elliott and Earnhardt Jr. will be setup through the Can-Am Duels on Thursday.
Dale Jr. is a two-time winner of the Daytona 500, last winning in 2014. He has finished in the top 3 four of the last five years, but is coming off missing big chunk of 2016 due to concussion issues.
Keselowski has never won this race. His best finish was third in 2014. Last year he placed 20th.
Johnson has won this race twice, last doing so in 2013. He finished fifth in 2014 and 2015 as well. Johnson is coming off a NASCAR Championship in 2016.
Harvick won this race in 2007. He finished fourth last year and second in 2015. He also was runner-up in 2009.
Truex Jr. has never won the Daytona 500. He finished second last year, which was just his first top-5 finish in the race in his 12th appearance.
