Updated Pep Boys Odds
The NASCARSprint Cup Series has its field set for the Pep Boys Auto 500 onSunday, as Martin Truex Jr. won the pole for the race on Saturday.
Pre-race favorite Jimmie Johnson is still favored to win Sunday’s race after qualifying third.
Johnson is a 9/2 favorite to win the race according to odds makers at the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other short odds to win are Mark Martin (6/1), Jeff Gordon (6/1), and Kyle Busch (7/1).
Johnson is a two-time winner of the Pep Boys Auto 500, but hasn’t finished better than eighth in his last four races. Johnson has three wins on the year and has finished in the top 10 15 times in 2009. Johnson is behind Truex and KaseyKahne in the starting lineup.
Martinis also a two-time winner of this event, with his last victory coming in 1994. Martin is currently 10th in the standings and is only 60 points ahead of Busch in the 13th position. Martin will start seven thin Sunday’s race.
Gordonis also a two-time winner of this event. Gordon sits third in the points standings and has 16 top-10 finishes and 11 top-five finishes in 2009. Gordon will start fourth in Sunday’s race.
Busch is 13th in the points standings, just outside the Chase for the Championship. He will start fifth on Sunday.
