Overton’s 400 Predictions
The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series waves the green flag for the Overton’s 400 on Sunday. Here’s some drivers we like to contend for the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kevin Harvick is favored, as he is listed with 3/1 odds to win. Other short odds to prevail are Martin Truex Jr. (7/2) and Kyle Busch (5/1). The Overton’s 400 takes place today at 2:30PM ET from Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois.
Martin Truex Jr. 7/2
Truex Jr. is coming off a big win last weekend at Sonoma and now heads to Chicago, where he has won the last two years. Truex Jr. has an average finish of 13.8 at Chicago to go with a 94.5 driver rating. He has finished in the top 5 of 10 races in 2018 and looks to be on track to defend his 2017 series title. I think Truex is the man to beat this afternoon.
Brad Keselowski 10/1
Keselowski is also a two-time winner of this race, taking the title in 2012 and 2014. He comes to Chicago with an average finish of 9.2 over nine races in his career and a driver rating of 100.4. The 2018 season hasn’t been a good one for Brad Keselowski, but I think that just improves his chances today. He needs a win and this is a good track for him to get it.
Chase Elliott 12/1
Elliott has driven at Chicagoland just twice in his career, but they have been two very strong showings. He finished third in this race in 2016 and second in 2017. Elliott comes into today’s race with an impressive 113.0 driver rating at this track. This year, Elliott is also seeking his first win, but he has found his way toward the top third of the pack in most races. He has finished 12th or better in eight straight. I like Elliott to have another strong run at Chicago today, knowing it could be his best chance at a win.
