GEICO 500 Predictions
The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series waves the green flag for the GEICO 500 on Sunday afternoon. Which drivers will push for the victory today?
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kevin Harvick is the favorite to win this race, as he has +250 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (+300), Martin Truex Jr. (+600) and Kyle Larson (+800). The Pocono 400 takes place today from Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. It will air live on FS1 at 2PM ET.
Kevin Harvick +250
Kevin Harvick has been one of two drivers that have dominated the 2018 season. He holds five wins on the year with four other top-5 finishes. Surprisingly, Harvick has never won at Pocono, but he did finish second in this race a year ago. He also has promising numbers of a 10.5 average finish and a driver rating of 95.3 at the track. Harvick has been a favorite almost all season and I think Sunday is a perfect time for him to break his Pocono winless streak.
Kyle Busch +300
Busch is the other driver to dominate the 2018 season and he very well could continue his strong runs today. Busch has four wins on the year and four other top-3 finishes He is coming off a win last week in the Coca-Cola 600. Busch is a former winner at Pocono and has a driver rating of 90.3 at the track. While this isn’t one of his best courses, I still think Busch should continue to have a strong performance.
Denny Hamlin +1500
Hamlin is in search of his first win of the season and he comes to a track that has been one of his best. He is a four-time winner at Pocono with an average finish of 11.792 there. His driver rating is 105.0, which is second-best in today’s field but the best of any of the veteran drivers. Despite being winless this year, Hamlin still has six top-5 finishes and only one finish outside the top 20. Hamlin could be the guy to sneak a win from Harvick and Busch.
