Johnson wins AAA Texas 500

Jimmie Johnson isn’t going to win the Sprint Cup Championship in 2015, but that didn’t stop him from winning the AAA Texas 500 on Sunday.

View Current NASCAR Odds

Brad Keselowski had the dominant car on Sunday, leading 312 of 334 laps, but it was Johnson that go out front at the end of the race and held of Keselowski, along with Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch to get the win.

According to oddsmakers, Johnson had 6/1 odds to win Sunday’s race, which means that a $100 wager on him to prevail will pay out an additional $600.

With Sunday’s results, it is Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. that find themselves in the top four spots with one race left before the final cut. Carl Edwards is six points behind fourth while Keselowski is 27 points out. The win on Sunday would have given Keselowski an automatic spot in the championship race. Joey Logano is 62 points out of fourth after a 40th-place finish on Sunday. He now needs a win next week to advance.
