Logano wins at Charlotte
Joey Logano punched his ticket to the final eight in the Chase for the Championship on Sunday by winning the Quicken Loans 500.
Logano had the dominant car, as he led 227 of the 334 laps and finished ahead of Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. on the final lap. The win automatically moves Logano into the next stage of the Chase with two more races to go before the field is cut to 8.
According to oddsmakers, Logano had 8/1 odds to win Sunday’s race, which means that a $100 wager on him to prevail will pay out an additional $800.
It was a tough outing for Mat Kenseth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Sunday. Kenseth finished dead last despite leading 72 laps on the day while Earnhardt Jr. came in 28th place. Kenseth is now last in the standings of the 12 Chase drivers, 32 points out of the eighth place needed to advance. Earnhardt Jr. is 19 points back. There are two races remaining before the Chase field is cut to 8.
