NASCAR All-Star Picks
This week we get to watch NASCAR put on the All-Star Race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, which is always a great show since Charlotte is home to most teams.
Instead of racing for points this week, drivers will be racing for cold hard cash with a million dollars going to the winner. With that much money on the line, we expect to see plenty of fireworks as they race to the finish.
The format for this year’s running has changed a bit from previous races. The first segment of the race will be 50 laps, followed by two 20 lap segments and then a final 10-lap dash to finish the race.
Nineteen drivers are currently eligible and two others will race their way in from the Sprint Showdown, which is a fans poll that will select the final driver for the All-Star race.
We think the key to this race is finding a driver who can be patient when needed and also someone who isn’t afraid to put a bumper on another driver to get them out of the way. Since this is a non-points race, expect to see some things you generally don’t see in a points race seeing as how drivers aren’t concerned about a payback down the road.
Sprint All-Star Selections:
Tony Stewart 10/1
Ryan Newman 15/1
What better place for Stewart-Haas Racing to pick up it’s first victory than Lowes Motor Speedway? Look for these two to do what ever it takes to win.
