Toyota/Save Mart 350 Predictions
The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series battles its first road course of the season this afternoon with the running of the Toyota/Save Mart 350. Here’s the drivers we like to contend for the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. each are listed as co-favorites with +475 odds to prevail. The Toyota/Save Mart 350 takes place today from Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California and will air live on FS1.
Kyle Busch +475
Busch is a two-time winner at Sonoma in his career and he has a 90.7 driver rating at this track, which ranks fourth in today’s field. He has finished in the top 7 of this race the last three years, including a victory in 2015. Busch has four victories this year and six other top-5 finishes. He has been right there with Harvick for the top driver in 2018. I think the road course favors him over Harvick, so I like him to be the man to beat.
Kurt Busch +800
Kyle’s brother Kurt is one of the top road course drivers in NASCAR. He is a former winner of this race and he has seven top-5 finishes out of 17 races. Busch has a driver rating of 107.5 at Sonoma, which is best in the field. He has finished in the top 10 in this race in six of the last seven years and the top 5 in four of those races. Busch doesn’t get a lot of chances to win much anymore, so a road course definitely should raise his game. If he wants to make the postseason, a win at a road course is his best bet.
Jimmie Johnson +2000
Jimmie Johnson isn’t having the best 2018 season. He is winless this year with only two top-5 finishes and six top-10 finishes. However, Sonoma has been a pretty good track for him. He is a former winner with nine top-10 finishes out of 16 races at the track. His driver rating at Sonoma is 99.6, which is one of the best in today’s field. Johnson needs a spark to get his season going and I think his experience at this track can help him find it.
