Food City 500 Odds
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to Bristol Motor Speedway this week after their first break of the 2009 season for the Food City 500.
Oddsmakers at SBG Global have made Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch all 5/1 favorites to win the 2009 Food City 500. All three drivers have previous victories at the Tennessee Bullring.
Edwards has two victories at the ½ mile short track in nine career starts with an average finish of 13.8 while Kyle Busch has only won once in eight career starts but has a better average finish of 12.5.
Jeff Gordon shares the distinction of leading all active drivers in most Bristol wins (5) with Kurt Busch who is currently listed at 6/1 odds to win the 2009 Food City 500 according to SBG Oddsmakers.
Gordon, who has five wins, thirteen top 5’s, nineteen top 10’s and an average finish of 11.5 in 32 career starts, is best at Bristol. Put aside the five wins and Kurt Busch is not even a distant second with only five top 5’s, nine top 10’s and an average finish of 14.4 in 16 career starts.
This week at Bristol it’s Jeff Gordon, and then everybody else.
Defending race winner Jeff Burton is currently listed at 10/1 odds to repeat as the Food City 500 Champion. Standing in the way of that may be Burton himself. Burton’s only Bristol win was last year and he has only cracked the top 5 eight times in 30 career starts.
A better bet may be the Field. This week for the Food City 500 the drivers in the Field Pool would enjoy a payout of 10/1.
