Ford 400 Odds
Carl Edwards has opened betting on the season-ending Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway with some of the shortest pre-qualifying odds we have seen this season.
Oddsmakers from SBG Global and Sportsbook.com have installed Edwards as a 2.5/1 favorite to win the 2008 Ford 400.
Despite the vote of confidence from oddsmakers, Edwards is an unlikely favorite for this weekend’s final 2008 Sprint Cup Series race. Even though Edwards has two top 5’s, three top 10’s and an average finish of 7.8, he is still a far cry from his Roush-Fenway Teammate Greg Biffle, who is currently listed at 5/1 odds to win the 2008 Ford 400.
Most had anticipated Biffle being the favorite when betting opened, considering this is by far his best track on the Sprint Cup Circuit. In only six career starts at Homestead-Miami, Biffle has three wins, three top 5’s, three top 10’s and an average finish of 12.7. Biffle’s snub may be the result of his inconsistency, in his other three Miami starts he has finished 25th or worse twice.
Sharing the second spot with Biffle is probable 2008 Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson, also listed at 5/1 odds to win. While not overly successful at Miami, Johnson is still a threat to win out the 2008 Sprint Cup Season. In seven career Sprint Cup Starts, Johnson has two top 5’s and five top 10’s with an average finish of 13.4. Homestead-Miami Speedway is one of only a handful of tracks where Johnson has never won.

Rounding out the top five favorites to win the 2008 Ford 400 are Kyle Busch at 8/1 and Matt Kenseth at 9/1.
Kyle Busch is also a surprise at 8/1. Even though he has had a great 2008 season, he hasn’t been a threat in months and never had a finish better than 20th at Homestead-Miami Speedway and finished 35th or worse, twice.
Kenseth is the defending winner of this race. Kenseth edged out Kurt Busch (30/1) in the 2007 Sprint Cup Season Finale.
