With less than a month to go before the start of the 2009 NASCAR season, oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have released odds to win the 2009 Daytona 500.

It will come as no surprise to most that Superspeedway ace Dale Earnhardt Jr. leads all drivers at 5/1 odds to win the 2009 Daytona 500. If the stars align for Earnhardt Jr. this February on the high banks of Daytona and allow his 8^th restrictor plate victory, a winning wager would pay $500 for every $100 bet.

In all, 33 drivers have odds to win the 2009 Daytona 500 listed. About 50 cars and drivers are expected to show up in Daytona to try and qualify for this years “Great American Race”. Drivers who make the race that do not have odds to win listed will be part of the “field” pool of drivers. Field odds are currently listed at 15/1.

Oddsmakers say the best challenge for Earnhardt Jr. would come from Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch. Busch, whose 2008 season collapsed at the start of the chase, is currently listed at 6/1.

Rounding out the top five favorites to win the 51^st Annual Daytona 500 are six time Daytona winner Jeff Gordon at 7/1, 2009 series champion Jimmie Johnson at 9/1, while Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin are both listed at 12/1 odds to win.

The 2009 Daytona 500 takes place on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM ET. The race will be televised live on Fox and Fox HD. Last years winner Ryan Newman is listed at 30/1.
