Despite suffering a serious setback last week in his bid for his first Sprint Cup Championship, oddsmakers still consider Kyle Busch the favorite for this weekend’s race at Dover.
Busch, who suffered mechanical problems after starting on the pole last week at New Hampshire, dropped from 1st to 8th in the Sprint Cup point’s standings. Still, oddsmakers from online sportsbooks SBG Global and Sportsbook.com have made Busch a 4/1 favorite to win this weekend’s 2008 Camping World RV 400 from Dover International Speedway.

Busch also took a hit in the odds to win the 2008 Sprint Cup dropping from 2.25/1 to 9/2. While still the favorite among the 12 drivers in the Chase, oddsmakers are questioning the young drivers ability to overcome his -74 point deficit in the final 9 races of the 2008 Sprint Cup season.
In seven career starts at “The Monster Mile,” Busch has five top 5’s, five top 10’s, an average finish of 10.3 and one win which came in June of this year.
Carl Edwards, who jumped ahead of Kyle Busch in the Sprint Cup point’s standings after last week, still finds himself behind at least in the eyes of oddsmakers. Edwards is listed at 5/1 odds to win the 2008 Camping World RV 400. Edwards has one win, four top 5’s, five top 10’s and an average finish of 8.2 in eight career starts. Edwards is also the defending winner of this race (9/23/07).
Behind Busch and Edwards is two-time defending Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson at 5.5/1 odds to win. Johnson has three wins at Dover’s Monster Mile, four top 5’s, eight top 10’s and an average finish of 11.5 in 13 career starts.
Rounding out the top 5 are Roush-Fenway Racing teammates Greg Biffle at 8/1 and Matt Kenseth at 10/1. Biffle and Kenseth each have one win at Dover.
