Pep Boys Auto 500 Odds
With only four races left in the 2008 NASCAR season, the Sprint Cup Series heads to Atlanta this weekend. Carl Edwards is the oddsmakers favorite prior to qualifying.
Edwards, who has taken a beating in the Sprint Cup Series points in the first six races of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, is currently listed as a 4/1 favorite to win this weekend’s Pep Boys Auto 500 from Atlanta Motor Speedway according to oddsmakers at SBG Globaland Sportsbook.com.
Bet on The 2008 Pep Boys Auto 500
Despite dropping from 2nd to 4th in the Sprint Cup Standings since the Chase began, oddsmakers are banking on Edwards’ strong track record at Atlanta. In eight career starts at Atlanta, Edwards has two wins, four top 5’s, six top 10’s and an average finish of 12.9.
Right behind Edwards is Sprint Cup Points Leader Jimmie Johnson at 4.5/1 odds to win the 2008 Pep Boys Auto 500. Johnson, who is the two time defending Sprint Cup Series Champion, currently holds a 149 point lead over second place Greg Biffle after Martinsville.
Johnson has three wins, eight top 5’s, nine top 10’s and an average finish of 9.6 in 14 career starts at Atlanta. Johnson is currently a 1/8 favorite to win his third Sprint Cup Championship in a row, a feat that has only been accomplished once before (Cale Yarborough). Johnson is also the defending winner of this race (10/28/07).
Rounding out the top 5 odds to win favorites for this weekends Pep Boys Auto 500 at Atlanta are Kyle Busch at 5.5/1, Greg Biffle at 8/1 and Tony Stewart at 10/1.
In eight career starts at Atlanta, Kyle Busch has one win, which came in this years March race at Atlanta, one top 5, one top 10 and an average finish of 19.9. Busch is currently 12th in Sprint Cup Point standings, 445 points behind Jimmie Johnson.
