Tums QuikPak 500 Odds
For the second time in as many weeks, defending Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson finds himself as the oddsmakers favorite this weekend.
Oddsmakers from online sports books SBG Global and Sportsbook.com have opened betting on this weekend’s TUMS QuikPak 500 with Johnson heading the class.
Johnson, who is listed at 4/1 odds to win the 2008 TUMS QuikPak 500, has 4 career wins at Martinsville Speedway. In 13 career Sprint Cup Series starts at Martinsville, Johnson has also racked up nine top 5’s, 12 top 10’s and has an average finish of an incredible 6.0. (Quite an impressive resume at one of NASCAR’S toughest and most demanding tracks.)
Bet on the 2008 TUMS QuikPak 500
Right behind Johnson is his Hendrick Motorsports teammate and #48 co-owner Jeff Gordon. Gordon, who has an equally impressive resume at Martinsville, is currently listed at 4.5/1 according to oddsmakers. In 31 career starts at Martinsville, Jeff Gordon has seven wins, 19 top 5’s, 25 top 10’s and an average finish of 7.0.
Neither Jeff Gordon nor Jimmie Johnson has won 8 of the last 11 races at Martinsville. Johnson is the current defending winner of this race (10/21/07).
Rounding out the top 5 favorites to win this weekend’s TUMS QuickPak 500 is the entire Joe Gibbs racing Sprint Cup Team. Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch are both listed at 6/1 favorites and their teammate Tony Stewart is listed as a 7.5/1 favorite.
Both Hamlin and Stewart have won at Martinsville. Stewart has won twice, once in 2000 and once in 2006, while Hamlin has one win, which came in March of this year. Kyle Busch has never won at Martinsville; his best finish was 4th.
