2011 Wins: Biffle vs. Edwards
(TheSpread) – Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle both are consistently among the top drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, but which driver will have more wins in 2011?
Both drivers are guys that go somewhat under the radar as they don’t have the flashiness of the top drivers and aren’t as consistent of winners, but both finished in the top 6 of the 2010 points race and will likely be a factor in the championship in 2011.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook Sportsbook.com favor Edwards to have more wins than Biffle in 2011 as Edwards has odds of -180 to win more races than Biffle, who comes in with odds of +130.
Edwards has been racing full time in the Sprint Cup series for six years and he has 18 wins in his career with 70 top 5’s and 118 top 10’s. Edwards won two races in 2010, but went winless in 2009. In 2008, he broke through with nine wins and finished second in the standings.
Biffle has been part of the Sprint Cup series full-time for eight seasons. He has 16 wins in his career with 66 top 5’s and 113 top 10’s. Biffle won two races in 2010, but also went winless in 2009. He has only won a maximum of two races in all but 2005, when he won a career-high six races.
It is easy to see why Edwards is the favorite in this scenario, as he seems to find himself in position to win more often and has the talent to win more than any driver on the series, but his aggressive style and emotional driving have led to some downfalls. Biffle is more of the steady driver, but not as likely to take chances to win, while Edwards will.
2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Futures Odds – More Wins in 2011 (Both drivers must contend in 33 races)
Carl Edwards -180
Greg Biffle +130
