Last year: Greg Biffle beat Jimmie Johnson by nearly 8 seconds in the October race.
Last week: Kevin Harvick won the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, taking the lead when Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran out of gas on the final lap. David Ragan was second, and Earnhardt finished seventh. Harvick has three victories this year.
Fast facts: Earnhardt is winless in 105 races and has one victory – on fuel mileage at Michigan in June 2008 – in 120 starts for Hendrick Motorsports. He had 17 victories in 291 starts for Dale Earnhardt Inc. … Harvick has led a combined nine laps in his three victories this season. … Carl Edwards leads the season standings, 36 points ahead of Harvick. Five-time defending series champion Johnson is third, 37 points behind Edwards. Earnhardt is fourth, 43 points back. … The series will return to Kansas in October, the first time the track has had two Cup races in a season.

Last year: Kyle Busch raced to the seventh of his record 13 Nationwide victories in 2010, beating Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano. Brian Scott was third.
Last week: Matt Kenseth won at Charlotte, passing Roush Fenway Racing teammate Carl Edwards with two laps to go. Busch finished third.
Fast facts: Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick are returning to the series. Bayne was sidelined by an illness with symptoms including nausea, fatigue and impaired vision. He last raced April 23 at Nashville. … Elliott Sadler tops the standings, a point ahead of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. … The series will return to Chicagoland in September, the first time the track has had two Nationwide races in a season.

Last year: Johnny Sauter held off Ron Hornaday Jr. after they made late contact and saved their trucks in tire-smoking slides. Sauter won this year in Martinsville.
Last race: Kyle Busch won at Charlotte on May 20, his third straight Trucks victory and fourth of the year. He also at Charlotte last year.
Fast facts: The race is the series’ 400th. … Busch has 97 NASCAR national series victories – 21 in Sprint Cup, 48 in Nationwide and 28 in Trucks – to tie Dale Earnhardt and Darrell Waltrip for third place on the career list. … Cole Whitt leads the season standings, a point ahead of Sauter and three in front of Hornaday. … Sauter is the lone series regular to win in the first seven races.

Last year: Larry Dixon raced to the sixth of his record 12 Top Fuel victories in 2010, beating Antron Brown in the rain-delayed event. Bob Tasca (Funny Car), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Michael Phillips (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won. The event was marred by Neal Parker’s death in Top Alcohol Funny Car qualifying.
Last event: Robert Hight gave John Force Racing its 200th victory, beating Funny Car teammate Mike Neff on May 22 in the Summer Nationals in Topeka, Kan. Spencer Massey (Top Fuel) and Shane Gray (Pro Stock) also won.
Fast facts: In 2008 at the track, Scott Kalitta was killed after his Funny Car burst into flames and crashed at the end of the track during qualifying. As a safety measure following Kalitta’s death, the NHRA cut the length of Top Fuel and Funny Car races from a quarter-mile to 1,000 feet – a reduction of 320 feet. … Del Worsham has won three of the first seven Top Fuel events this year. He has a 79-point lead over Tony Schumacher. Dixon, 83 points behind Worsham in third place, is winless this year. … In Funny Car, Mike Neff has a 36-point lead over Jack Beckman. Neff won the Gatornationals in March.
