Last year: Ryan Briscoe won for owner Roger Penske, pulling away from second-place Danica Patrick in the 250.5-mile, 167-lap race.
Last race: On May 29 in the Indianapolis 500, JR Hildebrand skidded into the wall on the final turn, giving Dan Wheldon an improbable victory. Wheldon also won in 2005.
Fast facts: The doubleheader is the first in major open-wheel racing since Rick Mears swept a CART event in Atlanta in 1981. CART and USAC had 17 doubleheaders from 1967 to 1981. … Half the usual points will be awarded in each race in the dual event that replaces the Firestone 550k. There will be an hour between races and drivers will have a blind draw to determine starting spots for the second race. … Helio Castroneves won at the track in 2004, ’06 and ’09. … Wheldon is set to work as an analyst on Versus’ TV coverage. … Will Power, the winner this year on road courses in Alabama and Sao Paulo, tops the overall season standings. Last week: Brad Keselowski won at Kansas Speedway for Penske Racing, stretching his fuel perfectly for his second Sprint Cup victory. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was second.
Fast facts: Car owner Richard Childress was fined $150,000 on Monday for assaulting Busch after the Trucks race Saturday at Kansas Speedway. The 65-year-old Childress apparently approached Busch, placed him in a headlock and punched him several times. Childress was upset that Busch bumped into RCR driver Joey Coulter on the cool-down lap. … Earnhardt is winless in 106 races. … Carl Edwards leads the series standings. … Greg Biffle won the Pennsylvania 500 at the track in August. … Sam Hornish Jr. is filling in for Travis Kvapil in Front Row Motorsports’ No. 38 Ford. Kvapil is racing in the Trucks event in Texas.

Last week: Clint Bowyer won at Kansas Speedway, leading 142 laps of 167 laps in Kevin Harvick Inc.’s No. 2 Chevrolet. Bowyer is from Emporia, Kan. Sauter was second.
Fast facts: Bodine is the only Trucks driver to win six times at one track. He won four times last year en route to his second season championship …. Sauter, the Martinsville winner, leads the series standings. He’s the lone series regular to win in the first eight races. … David Mayhew will drive Harvick’s Chevy.

Fast facts: The race, a fixture at the track since 1978, returned to the schedule last year after being dropped in 2009 because of failed negotiations with event organizers. … Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, in his second season with Mercedes GP after a three-year retirement, won at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 1994, ’97, ’98, 2000, ’02, ’03 and ’04. He has a record 91 victories. … Hamilton won the Chinese Grand Prix in April. … The course sits on Ile Notre-Dame, a slender landfill island off the southern bank of the St. Lawrence River. The track was renamed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve soon after the Canadian star was killed in a crash during qualifying for the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. Villeneuve’s son, Jacques, won the 1997 F1 title.
