Race distance: 400 miles, 160 laps.
Last year: Jeff Gordon won for the fifth time at Pocono to tie Bill Elliott for the track record. The victory was the second of Gordon’s three 2011 wins.
Last week: Jimmie Johnson raced to his seventh Dover victory, matching Richard Petty and Bobby Allison for the track record. Johnson led 289 of the 400 laps.
Fast facts: David Reutimann is driving the Phoenix Racing entry in place of Kurt Busch, suspended by NASCAR for verbally abusing a reporter following the Nationwide race at Dover. NASCAR said Busch violated the probation he was placed on last month. He will be eligible to return next week, though his future with the underfunded Cup team is uncertain. Busch lost his job with Penske Racing at the end of last season because of his behavior. … The track has been repaved since Brad Keselowski’s victory in the August race. … The race and the August event have been reduced from 500 to 400 miles. … Greg Biffle leads the season standings, a point ahead of Roush Fenway teammate Matt Kenseth. … Pocono founder Joseph “Doc” Mattioli died in January.

Track: Texas Motor Speedway (oval, 1.5 miles).
Race distance: 250.5 miles, 167 laps.
Last year: Ron Hornaday Jr. won despite crossing the finish line second. First-place finisher Johnny Sauter was black-flagged because he moved down from the outside lane to the inside in front of Hornaday before crossing the start-finish line on a restart. Sauter was dropped to 22nd.
Last week: Todd Bodine won the rain-shortened race at Dover for his 22nd Truck victory and first since 2010. Parker Kligerman was second.
Fast facts: Bodine has a record six Texas victories, also a record for most Truck victories at a track. The two-time series champion is in his first season with Red Horse Racing. … Justin Lofton leads the season standings, a point ahead of Timothy Peters. Lofton won last month at Charlotte. … Sprint Cup driver Kevin Harvick won the November race at the track.

Last year: Penske Racing’s Will Power won for the first time on an oval track, taking the second race in the first doubleheader in major open-wheel racing in 30 years. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Dario Franchitti won the opener.
Last week: Ganassi’s Scott Dixon won the Detroit Grand Prix for his 28th series victory, holding off teammate Franchitti in the race shortened from 90 to 60 laps because of poor track conditions.
Fast facts: The race is the second oval event of the season. Two weeks ago in the oval opener, Franchitti raced to his third Indianapolis 500 victory. … Power, the winner this year on road and street courses at Barber, Long Beach and Sao Paulo, leads the season standings. Dixon, 26 points back in second, won at the track in 2008.

Last year: McLaren’s Jenson Button won the rain-soaked race, working his way up from last place and taking advantage of Sebastian Vettel’s last-lap slide.
Last race: Red Bull’s Mark Webber won the Monaco Grand Prix on May 27, marking the first time in F1 history that there hasn’t been a repeat winner in the first six races of a season. Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg was second, and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso finished second to take the season points lead.
Fast facts: Weber and Vettel, the two-time defending series champion, are three points behind Alonso. Vettel won in Bahrain in April for Red Bull. … McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton won at the track in 2007 and 2010. … Seven-time series champion Michael Schumacher has seven Montreal victories. … The course sits on Ile Notre-Dame, a landfill island off the southern bank of the St. Lawrence River. The track was renamed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve after the Canadian was killed during qualifying for the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. Villeneuve’s son, Jacques, won the 1997 F1 title.
