CONCORD, N.C. (AP) – NASCAR’s chief appellate officer has upheld the 150-point deduction against Clint Bowyer while reducing part of the penalty against Richard Childress Racing.
John Middlebrook cut crew chief Shane Wilson’s $150,000 fine to $100,000. He also reduced the suspension of Wilson and car chief Chad Haney from six races to four.
RCR appealed the penalties against Bowyer’s team when the car he drove to victory at New Hampshire on Sept. 19 failed inspection.
This was Middlebrook’s first hearing as NASCAR’s chief appellate officer since taking the job in February.
