Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Pacers are 12-point favorites to beat the Knicks. The total, meanwhile, sits at 209.5 points and as of this writing, 57% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Pacers to cover the point spread.
New York Knicks Fantasy Spin
Mitchell Robinson’s block party continued on Sunday as he hit 4-of-5 shots for eight points, 10 rebounds and five more blocks in 33 minutes off the bench. Starter DeAndre Jordan played just 15 minutes and somehow missed 7-of-8 shots, so the Knicks decided to let Robinson play against the center-less Wolves tonight. He now has at least two blocks in 15 straight games, joining Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O’Neal, Manute Bol, Alonzo Mourning, and David Robison as the only other rookies in NBA history to match that feat.
Indiana Pacers Fantasy Spin
Myles Turner struggled with foul trouble on Sunday, finishing with six points, five rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes vs. the Sixers. This game had major playoff implications and Turner acknowledged it could set the tone for Indiana. “We have to show road toughness,” he said this weekend. “We’re going to be on the road a lot this month and the rest of the season.” The Pacers did that in the first half, with physical play and a strong effort from the bench, but they were routed in the third and fourth quarters. Turner’s owners can expect him to fare better vs. DeAndre Jordan and the Knicks on Tuesday.
NBA Betting Trends
New York
The Knicks are 9-19 against the spread in their last 28 games coming off an ATS loss.
Indiana
The Pacers are 10-1 against the number in their last 11 home games versus a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400.
Prediction
While this is a lot of points to lay on a team that just got shelled last night, I don’t expect Indiana to shoot as poorly tonight as they did in Philadelphia. The Pacers scored one point in a nearly seven-minute span to finish the third quarter against the Sixers on Monday night. The offense has flatlined, but this is also a much better team at home than on the road. The Pacers are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine home games and have taken care of business against the Knicks, covering in four of the last five meetings between these two teams and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 home games against New York.
