Raptors fall at home
Toronto had its five game win streak come to an end in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday, a 109-104 loss at home to the Warriors to even the series at 1-1. The Raptors are now 71-31 on the season, 30-19 on the road, 49-53 against the spread and 52-47-3 with the over.
The Raptors had a great chance to go up 2-0, but they allowed the Warriors to start the second half on an 18-0 run that ultimately cost them the game. Toronto’s offense struggled all game, as they were just 35 of 94 from the field and 11 of 38 from the arc. They also committed 15 turnovers. Kawhi Leonard put up a solid game with 34 points and 14 rebounds while Fred VanVleet had 17 points. Pascal Siakam had a big step back from Game 1, going just 5 of 18 shooting for 12 points.
Warriors banged up
Golden State managed to even up the NBA Finals despite more injuries piling up on Sunday. They have played four straight road games and won three of them. The Warriors are now 70-30 on the season, 36-13 at home, 43-55-2 against the spread and 50-49-1 with the under.
The Warriors managed to grind out the win in Game 2 thanks to their 18-0 run, but the victory came with a price. Both Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney were injured in the game. Looney suffered a collarbone injury after a hard fall while Thompson injured his hamstring. Looney is done for the series while Thompson is questionable. He put up 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in the win. Stephen Curry had 23 points as he struggled with dehydration while Demarcus Cousins had 11 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in his first start.
NBA Betting Trends
Toronto
The Raptors are 1-5 against the spread in their last six games when on two days of rest, but 5-2 ATS in their last seven against West Conference opponents.
Golden State
The Warriors are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 against Eastern Conference opponents and 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine games following a cover.
Prediction:
Things aren’t looking good for Golden State. Thompson’s injury is no joke. Even if he is able to play, I find it hard to believe he will be close to 100 percent. Andre Iguodala is already dealing with an injury that would keep him on the bench if it weren’t the NBA Finals as well. They have lost Looney, a key player in the frontcourt rotation. While Cousins played well in Game 2, he is still limited in his conditioning. The Raptors may not be an offensive juggernaut, but they play great defense and make opponents work hard on offense. I think that is where the Warriors will feel the depth issues tonight. Unless someone from the bench can really step up, I think Toronto will just have too much fight for them.
NBA Prediction: Toronto Raptors +4.5
