Some in the media speculated that the 2011 NBA Draft would be cancelled due to the potential lockout. But with the current collective bargaining agreement not set to expire before July 1, the draft will occur as planed on Thursday, June 23. Many pundits expect Duke freshman Kyrie Irving to be selected by the Cavs as the No. 1 overall pick.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have put together some prop wagers for the 2011 NBA Draft, including odds for which player will be selected third overall. Brandon Knight is –300 on the money line, while Enes Kanter is +250. Jimmer Fredette is +850 on the ML, while Kemba Walker is +1500. The consensus choice right now is that Knight will be the third player off the board (to Utah), so it makes sense that he’s favored.
For the prop, “Who will be the 4th player selected in the NBA Draft,” Kanter is –105 on the ML, while Jan Vesely is +355, Jonas Valanciunas is +150 and Kawhi Leonard is +1500. Again, these odds coincide with the consensus, as many pundits have Kanter going to Cleveland with the fourth overall selection.
Kemba Walker is EVEN on the money line to be the fifth player selected, while Valanciunas is +255, Vesely is +275 and Knight is +550. This is where bettors may find a little value, as the consensus is that Valanicunas will be taken by Toronto at pick No. 5.
Kanter is EVEN money to be taken sixth overall, while Vesely is +200, Leonard is +375 and Thompson is +500. What’s interesting is that Kemba Walker – who is not listed in this prop – is currently the consensus pick for the Wizards at No. 6.
Vesely is +150 to be the seventh player off the board on Thursday, while Fredette is +400, Leonard is +175 and Walker is +300. Many pundits believe the Kings will pull the trigger on Vesley with this pick, so the odds are spot on with the public perception.
Leonard is EVEN money to be taken eighth overall, while Walker is +150, Thompson is +350 and Bismack Biyombo is +750. The consensus is that Leonard will go to the Pistons at No. 8, but EVEN money is still a great value for bettors.
Other prop odds include whether or not Jimmer Fredette from BYU will be a Lottery Pick. A wager on “Yes” is –200 on the money line while a wager on “No” is +150. Many people believe Fredette could go to the Suns at No. 13 overall.
A wager on “Yes” will net bettors –300 money line odds for whether or not Jeremy Tyler will be selected in the first round. A wager on “No” is currently listed at +200 odds.
For the prop, “Will Andre Iguodala be traded before the end of the 2011 draft,” a wager on “Yes is –250, while a wager on “No” is +170.
Will the Minnesota Timberwolves trade their second overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft? A wager on “Yes” is –140, while a wager on “No” is EVEN money. Will Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris both be drafted by the same team? A wager on “Yes” could net a bettor +500 on the money line.
The 2011 NBA Draft will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Thursday, June 23 at 7:00PM ET. The event will be shown on ESPN.
