Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Heat 7.5-point favorites over the Celtics tonight for the 7:00PM ET tip off. The over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 7.5 points.
LeBron James led the Heat to a 98-90 win over the Celtics in Boston on Monday night. He scored 35 points and added a team-high 14 rebounds in the victory, while Dwyane Wade scored 28 points and chipped in nine boards. The third leg of the tripod, Chris Bosh, scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
For the Celtics, Rajon Rondo struggled to play through his elbow injury and finished with just 10 points and five assists. But the fact that he played at all (nevertheless 38 minutes) was impressive. Paul Pierce led Boston in points with 27, but Kevin Garnett struggled mightily from the field, shooting 1-10 while finishing with just seven points.
NBA Free Pick: I don’t think the Celtics can win without Rondo being 100%, but I also don’t believe Garnett will be as bad as he was on Monday. Therefore, I think the Heat are a tad overvalued at –7.5 and Boston can at least walk away with a cover. (Of course, a cover won’t save their season but bettors can cash in one more time if the C’s play hard enough.) According to latest NBA trends, the Heat are just 2-6 against the number in their last eight Wednesday games, while the Celtics are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a straight up loss. While I don’t expect an outright win for Boston, I think the Celtics will make it interesting to the final whistle and cover the 7.
WEDNESDAY NBA FREE PICK: BOSTON CELTICS +7.5
