Thursday NBA Free Pick
(The Spread) – The Mavericks will look to increase their lead in the Western Conference Finals tonight when they host the Thunder in Game 2.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have made the Mavericks 5.5-point favorites over the Thunder for Game 2 tonight, which tips off at 9:00PM ET. The over/under total for this game is currently sitting at 200.5 points.
The Mavericks got off to a great start in this series by scoring 121 points in a 121-112 victory on Tuesday night. Dallas covered as a 6-point favorite, while the combined score soared over the total of 194.5 points.
Dirk Nowitzki shot the lights out for the Mavs, scoring 48 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the field. He was also a perfect 24-of-24 from the free throw line, while Jason Terry added 24 points and four assists.
From the offensive side of the ball, Kevin Durant did all he could do for the Thunder, scoring 40 points and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Russell Westbrook scored 20 and Serge Ibaka added 17, but Oklahoma City’s defense was a disaster all night.
NBA Playoff Free Pick: I still believe in the Thunder and I think they can steal one of these two games on the road. According to latest NBA trends, Oklahoma City is 6-1-1 against the spread in its last eight trips to Dallas, even though it lost on Tuesday night. The Thunder are also 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games against the Mavericks and the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams (with the lone ATS loss coming in Game 1 of this series, of course). Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games after allowing 100 or more points in their previous outing. I think the Thunder will play much better defensively and a less sloppy game overall to cover.
