2012 NBA Finals Odds To Win
(TheSpread) – The shortened 2011-12 NBA Season kicks off this Sunday and oddsmakers have updated their odds for which team will win the championship at the end of the season.
The team that came up a couple games short of winning the championship last season, the Miami Heat, is the favorite to win it all this season. Oddsmakers have given the Heat odds of 9/5 to win the title. Other short odds to win are the L.A. Lakers (5/1), Oklahoma City (5/1), and Chicago (6/1).
The Heat lost to Dallas in the NBA Finals in six games last year and they own one NBA Championship in franchise history. Miami was 58-24 last season and held the second-best record in the East. The Heat have the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh, which always makes them a contender.
The Lakers have won 17 NBA Championships, with the last one coming in 2010. Los Angeles lost in the Western Conference Semifinals to Dallas last year, but they were the No. 2 seed entering the playoffs after going 57-25. L.A. still has Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, but they did recently trade away Lamar Odom to the Mavericks.
Oklahoma City has never won the NBA Championship in its short franchise history. The Thunder went 55-27 last season to get the fourth seed in the playoffs. The Thunder reached the Western Conference Finals before losing to Dallas. The team is led by Kevin Durant, who is arguably the best scorer in the NBA right now.
Chicago has won six NBA titles, with the last coming in 1998. The Bulls were 62-20 last season, which was the best record in the East, but they lost to Miami in the Eastern Conference finals. The Bulls have the defending NBA MVP, Derrick Rose, leading their team.
