Philadelphia 76ers DFS Spin
The 76ers will likely be without 2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid against the Celtics on Wednesday. Embiid missed Game 1 of this series and is doubtful for Game 2. He’s dealing with a Grade 1 LCL sprain in his right knee. Embiid is averaging 20 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game in 3 playoff contests for the Sixers this year.
With Joel Embiid out, Philadelphia small forward Paul Reed figures to get more minutes. The DePaul alum is coming off back-to-back double-doubles in Game 4 of the Nets series and Game 1 of this series. He might be a nice sleeper option at the forward spot in DFS on Wednesday.
Boston Celtics DFS Spin
Celtics point guard Marcus Smart is questionable for Wednesday’s game with a chest contusion. Smart is averaging 16 points and 5.4 assists per game in 7 playoff games for Boston this year. If he’s unable to play, Boston may miss his defense more than his offense.
Boston point guard Derrick White could see some extended minutes if Smart is unable to play or is limited on Wednesday. White has been one of Boston’s better players for a while now and his stat line is evidence of that. In 7 playoff starts, White is averaging 15.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 2.3 made three-pointers per game. He only had 4 points on 5 shot attempts in Game 1, but Derrick White seems like a nice bounce-back candidate on Wednesday.
76ers vs. Celtics NBA Betting Trends
Philadelphia is 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Philadelphia is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win.
Philadelphia is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an outright win.
Philadelphia is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games.
76ers vs. Celtics NBA Prediction
The 76ers beat the Celtics in Game 1 of this series on the road without their best player, Joel Embiid. James Harden had 45 points and Tyrese Maxey poured in 26. It seemed like the 76ers caught the Celtics by surprise, as Boston’s intensity left something to be desired. If anything, Philly showed they could win without Embiid.
A few betting trends support the case for the 76ers in Game 2. Philly is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record. What’s more, the 76ers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game. I don’t know if Philadelphia will win this game, but to cover the number they won’t necessarily need to. I’ll take the 76ers and the points on the road in Boston on Wednesday.
