Embiid Not Available vs. Jazz
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Joel Embiid (left knee soreness) will not be available for Thursday’s game against the Jazz.
Embiid, who was expected to undergo an MRI on Wednesday, aggravated his left knee injury during Tuesday’s loss to the Warriors. Not only will he sit out Thursday’s game, but he will travel back to Philadelphia and not remain with the team. According to Wojnarowski, he’ll be further evaluated within the next 24 hours. Until Embiid is cleared to play, fantasy managers must roster Paul Reed.
Jazz Markkanen Totals 14 Points vs. Knicks
Lauri Markkanen accumulated 14 points (5-of-14 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes in Tuesday’s 118-103 loss to the Knicks. Like his Jazz teammates, Markkanen will be thrilled to get back home. In Utah’s final two games of their road trip, decisive losses to the Nets and Knicks, he scored 27 points on 9-of-26 shooting from the field. Over the past two weeks, Markkanen’s provided 5th-round value in 8- and 9-cat formats. The mini-slump hasn’t damaged much. However, even though Utah finishes Week 15 with two difficult matchups (Philadelphia and Milwaukee), getting to play at home should pay dividends.
