Are Cavs in trouble?
Following an embarrassing loss at home to the Golden State Warriors, are the Cleveland Cavaliers still a top contender for the NBA Finals?
The Cavs suffered just their second loss at home on Monday when they were dominated by the Warriors, 132-98. The game was being billed as Cleveland’s shot at revenge for last year’s NBA Finals and a previous loss at Golden State on Christmas Day. However, Golden State ran right over Cleveland, as the Cavs had 15 turnovers while allowing Golden State to shoot 54 percent from the field and 19 of 40 from 3-point land.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Cavs are currently listed with odds of +340 to win the NBA Finals this season, which is best of any Eastern Conference team. The Warriors are the favorite to repeat, as they have odds of +160, while the San Antonio Spurs have +220 odds to win it all.
The Cavaliers still have the top seed in the East at 28-11 overall. They have a 3-game lead on the Raptors for the best record in the East and a 4.5-game lead on the Bulls for the top spot in the Central Division. Golden State is 38-4 on the season and on pace to set a new NBA record for most wins in a season. The Spurs aren’t far off at 36-6.
