Anthony committed to the Knicks?
NEW YORK (TheSpread) – The New York Knicks are not looking like a title contender early in the season, but Carmelo Anthony isn’t looking to get out of town.
The Knicks are just 4-20 on the season under new management of Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher. Anthony signed a new five-year, $124 million contract prior to this season, one that had a no-trade clause in it. Published reports came out this week stating Anthony was considering waiving the no-trade clause, but he refuted those reports on Friday.
“Carmelo, as always, is committed to the Knicks,” Leon Rose, Anthony’s agent, told ESPNNewYork.com. “There have never been discussions about trades or wanting to leave New York. Any story, rumor, report to the contrary is utter nonsense.”
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Knicks now have 300/1 odds to win the NBA Championship this season. Only seven teams currently have worse odds than New York.
Anthony has appeared in 21 games this season and is averaging 22.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He is shooting .456 percent from the floor and .352 percent from 3-point land.
