Brooklyn Nets Fantasy Spin
Spencer Dinwiddie hopes the Nets can be a “force in the playoffs” as they fine-tune their offense over the final 17 games of the season. “Being a young group and finally being healthy we’re going to continue to find ourselves,” said Dinwiddie. “It’s been an exploratory process this whole season, and we’re hopefully entering the final phase of that. We can tighten the screws and get to where we need to go over the last 17 games and be a force in the playoffs.” Dinwiddie was the catalyst in Brooklyn’s win over Cleveland on Wednesday, and aside from one dud, he’s been great since getting back to the court with averages of 17.3 points, 4.5 dimes, 1.3 treys, 1.3 steals and 1.8 turnovers per contest on 44.4% shooting.
Atlanta Hawks Fantasy Spin
Trae Young needed 24 shots to score 22 points on Wednesday, making eight field goals with six rebounds, four assists, one steal and one 3-pointer. Young did make 5-of-6 free throws with only two turnovers, so the only real negative was his high-volume 33% shooting — that was mostly the result of impressive defense by Derrick White. Since the All-Star break, Young came into this game ranked second in the NBA in triples (26), second in free throws made (52), third in total points (206) and third in total assists (65). Luka Doncic is walking away with the Rookie of the Year award, but Young is going down swinging.
NBA Betting Trends
Brooklyn
The Nets are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous contest.
Atlanta
The Hawks are 9-21 against the spread in their last 30 home games when facing an opponent with a losing road record.
Prediction
The Nets have been profitable in this series, covering the spread in four straight games against the Hawks and four straight in Atlanta. The Nets have also been excellent on the road, covering in seven of their previous nine contests away from Brooklyn, as well as posting a 10-1 ATS record in their last 11 games when playing on two days of rest. Meanwhile, the Hawks are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games playing an opponent with a winning record.
