Nets hit the road
Following a 109-102 win at home over Boston on Monday, the Nets are back on the road tonight. Brooklyn has lost its last two road games by at least 17 points. The Nets are 22-23 on the season, 10-12 on the road, 24-21 against the spread and 23-22 with the over.
Brooklyn is middle of the road on both offense and defense this season. The Nets are averaging 110.7 points per game while giving up 111.3 points per contest. Brooklyn has a fair amount of injuries as Allen Crabbe is out with a knee injury, Jared Dudley is out with a hamstring injury and Shabazz Napier and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson are both questionable. D’Angelo Russell is leading the team with 18.7 points and 6.3 assists per game while Spencer Dinwiddie is adding 16.7 points and 5.0 assists per contest.
Rockets beat up
The Rockets are coming off a 112-94 win over Memphis at home on Monday, but Houston is really dealing with a lot of injuries and it has caused them to go just 3-3 in their last six. The Rockets are now 25-18 overall, 16-6 at home, 22-20-1 against the spread and 24-19 with the over.
Houston is averaging 111.3 points per game on offense this season while giving up 109.2 points per game on defense. Already without Chris Paul, the team is now without Clint Capela for a month due to a thumb injury. Eric Gordon is listed as questionable to return from his knee injury tonight. Capela, Gordon and Paul combine for nearly 50 points, 19 rebounds and 12 assists per game between them. James Harden is leading the team with 34.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Brooklyn
The Nets have covered the spread in six straight Wednesday games, but 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games against a team with a winning home record.
Houston
The Rockets are 14-3-1 against the spread in their last 18 home games and 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games on 1 day of rest.
Prediction:
Houston is beat up, but it didn’t keep the Rockets from earning a 112-94 win over Memphis on Monday. The Rockets have managed to be pretty solid at home, picking up lopsided wins over the Cavs and Nuggets, despite all the injuries. Getting Gordon back would be a help, but this is all about Harden. If he shoots respectable, he should be able to lead the Rockets to the win. Brooklyn is beat up as well and the Nets don’t have the player that can take over a game like Houston does. With the spread small, I will continue to take my chances on Harden and the Rockets at home.
NBA Prediction: Houston Rockets -4.5
